As a child I flew SYD - NLK (Norfolk Island) return in about 1981. Back then the route was flown by an East-West Airlines (EW) Fokker F27. IIRC the flight time was something like 4:00/4:30 (all over water)! I remember it seemed a looong way in that little plane.
Does anyone know if this was the longest scheduled F27 flight? I think East-West operated quite a few F27s. Was one airframe dedicated to this route? Did the F27 need extra fuel tanks or other mods? Any info would be appreciated. I did a search but found nothing.
BTW, today the route is served by an OzJet B732. Scheduled flight times are 2:25 inbound and 2:50 outbound.
